POSITION TITLE: Online "E" Teacher, High School (Part-Time)

SALARY PLAN/GRADE: Stipend (Only available for current HISD employees)

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Project Manager, Virtual School

ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES

• Provide instructional assistance to students online outside of regular work day. E-Teaching will be performed after work and on weekends.
• Manage the on-line student assessment process for the related course, including grading, monitoring, tracking, and reporting.
• Serve as on-line subject-matter expert for students and parents in the related on-line course.
• Conduct on-line, telephone, and face-to-face conferences (if needed) with parents and students.
• Monitor on-line courses for compliance with national, state, and local requirements and standards.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

• Certified teacher in the content area for instruction (See Courses Below). Multiple certifications in any combination preferred.
• Must meet NCLB “Highly Qualified” standards in area(s) of teaching.
• Bilingual/ESL preferred but not required.  

Experience:

• MUST be a current HISD employee
• Minimum of 2 years exemplary teaching experience.
• Extensive knowledge in the development of lessons for any combination of the content areas.
• Extensive knowledge of inquiry-based teaching and learning.
• Technology skills and knowledge of strategies for integrating technology with content area.

Other Requirements:

• Ability to communicate effectively in English in both written and oral forms.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, walk, twist, bend, climb, drive and/or be mobile.
• Valid Texas Drivers License with appropriate insurance coverage.
